On August 27, the 2026 Chile Pork Production Business Meeting brought together representatives from companies, experts, and stakeholders across the entire value chain at Club de la Unión in Curicó, Maule Region. Organized by 333—an international platform for information, analysis, and knowledge in the pork sector—and supported by ChileCarne, the meeting analyzed the key challenges and opportunities shaping the sector’s future.
Innovation, efficiency, new technologies, sustainability, and growth prospects were among the key topics of this year’s meeting, which brought together representatives from across the pork industry, as well as the Regional Secretary of Agriculture, Alejandro Muñoz, to reflect, exchange experiences, and discuss the industry’s challenges.
The event was inaugurated by Senator Cristián Vial and Carolina Torres, Executive Director of the Curicó Development Corporation, who highlighted the importance of pig farming for the Maule region and their support for the industry. Attendees were also welcomed by Xavier Salamó, CEO of 333 Corporate, and Reinaldo Cubillos, general manager of 333 LATAM. ChileCarne was represented by its business manager, Rodrigo Castañón, who emphasized the need to create spaces to share knowledge and experiences and to address the sector’s current challenges and opportunities from diverse perspectives. He also underscored collaboration between companies and experts as a key element to strengthen competitiveness and boost the development of Chilean pork.
ChileCarne’s member companies participated in various panels. One highlight was the “Historical evolution of the Chilean swine industry,” in which Jaime Bascuñán, general manager of Agrícola AASA; Juan Lyon, owner and founder of Maxagro; and Wolfgang Peralta, advisor to Agrosuper, shared experiences and anecdotes to look back at the industry’s key milestones and transformations from their different perspectives.
The sector’s future was the subject of the panel “How will the pork industry grow?” featuring the Regional Secretary of Agriculture, Alejandro Muñoz; Guillermo García, CEO of Coexca; Andrés Parodi, Deputy Manager of External Communications at Agrosuper; Fernanda Kuschel, Sustainability & Precision Services Manager at DSM-Firmenich Chile; and Miguel Chico, founder of The Farm Revolution, Spain. Guillermo García offered his thoughts on the sector’s evolution and proposed three measures to boost its future development: expediting and reducing the cost of the permitting process, enabling integrated production models, and setting an explicit growth target for the next decade. He also urged the authorities to provide greater certainty and the enabling conditions needed to boost the industry’s growth.
Andrés Parodi focused on the sustainability initiatives led by Agrosuper, outlining the work being done and the challenges the industry faces in moving toward more sustainable development.
The trends and tools transforming pig production were also addressed throughout the meeting, from the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence to more efficient processes, meat quality, and changes in the economic and business landscape.
The meeting concluded with the Pork Grill, organized by ChileCarne, Encipharm, and MSD Animal Health. This convivial barbecue demonstration was a space for attendees to continue conversations and strengthen the bonds initiated during the meeting.
Overall, the event highlighted the key challenges and opportunities shaping the conversation around pork production: incorporating new technologies, improving efficiency, responding to global transformations, and creating the enabling conditions for sustainable and competitive growth.
The meeting was a space for analysis, dialogue, and collaboration on a common challenge: how to leverage knowledge, innovation, and joint work to address the changes the industry is experiencing and continue promoting the growth of the Chilean pork sector.
