El Caleuche School in Pichidegua was the venue for the latest CuriosasMentes (Curious Minds) event. This initiative, sponsored by ChileCarne, aims to introduce children to science, sustainability, and healthy eating through learning experiences tied to their daily lives and surroundings.
The activity, held on June 3, is part of a broader initiative by the association to promote science and sustainability education. ChileCarne first piloted this initiative in collaboration with ANID’s Explora program in the Metropolitan Region, and the association will resume its participation in the program this year starting in August. This project, which has been made possible thanks to the support of the association’s member companies, aims to bring educational content to rural communities located in areas where pig farming takes place.
The initiative shows the industry’s commitment to the communities where it operates and to promoting educational activities that improve understanding of sustainable food production, environmental stewardship, and the importance of a balanced diet. It also hopes to spark an interest in science, innovation, and rural life among younger generations by showing how knowledge and technology can provide solutions to the challenges of the future.
Through interactive activities, the students were able to learn more about nutrition, the efficient use of resources such as water, and sustainable practices applied to food production. At the same time, they had the opportunity to explore scientific concepts in a hands-on, practical, and entertaining way, fostering their curiosity and powers of observation.
The activity also highlighted the agri-food sector’s contribution to regional development, introducing students to industries that are part of their local community and showcasing the opportunities available in areas such as food production, sustainability, technology, and research.
Through initiatives such as CuriosasMentes, ChileCarne and its member companies reaffirm their commitment to education and community outreach, helping more children discover science and knowledge as tools to better understand their environment, plan for their future, and become leaders in an increasingly sustainable world.
