ASSOCIATION OF CHILEAN MEAT EXPORTERS

The Chilean Meat Exporters’ Association (ChileCarne) brings together the country’s leading pork and poultry exporters, representing more than 85% of the sector’s export volume. Since 2016, its work has focused on promoting sector growth and strengthening its position in international markets, based on strict food safety standards and sustainability commitments throughout the entire production chain.

Purpose

To boost the growth and competitiveness of Chile’s pork and poultry export industry by providing technical expertise, coordinating public-private collaboration, promoting sustainable practices, and boosting Chile’s reputation in international markets.

Mission

To position Chile as a reliable, world-class supplier of pork and poultry that is recognized for its high standards of animal health, biosecurity, safety, traceability, and sustainability.

Strategic action areas

  • Biosecurity standards that set minimum requirements to reduce outbreaks in industrial and backyard farming.
  • Surveillance of exotic diseases, early detection, and verification of the absence of exotic diseases with high impact on production and trade.
  • Biosecurity in wetlands, prevention of avian influenza and other diseases in backyard birds.
  • Better Health, antimicrobial resistance surveillance, and support for the prudent and responsible use of antibiotics.
  • Surveillance of dioxins, furans, and PCBs, control and prevention of dioxins and other contaminants in meat.
  • Waste control and monitoring of drugs, contaminants, and pesticide residues.
  • BIOREP: a biosecurity program for suppliers of products imported from countries affected by African swine fever.
  • Regulatory compliance in destination markets, including regular requirement reviews, gap analyses, and audits.
  • Odor management and reduction, advanced slurry treatment systems, and implementation of odor standards.
  • Waste recovery and organic fertilizer production.
  • Water efficiency, reduced consumption, and reuse or recirculation in processes.
  • Energy efficiency and biogas production to increase renewable energy use.
  • Chile Conscious Origin program from the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Regulatory management.
  • Market prioritization: Joint definition of priority markets and roadmap development.
  • Sanitary and regulatory authorizations: Review of requirements, coordination and management of international audits, engagement with importers, and participation in public-private missions.
  • Operational and documentary support: When a new market is opened, efforts are made to maintain it, facilitate trade, solve operational issues, and improve tariff conditions.
  • Business relations: Contact with importers and participation in public-private trade missions.
