On July 3rd, Latin American Chicken Day celebrates the production chain and launches a guide for consumers

Under the slogan «Chicken unites us,» the multinational campaign celebrates farmers, technicians, agro-industries, and other links in the sector’s chain, while introducing the Smart Chicken Guide.

This Friday, Latin America and the Caribbean celebrate Latin American Chicken Day, a date that acknowledges the importance of a production chain that feeds people around the world, as well as creating opportunities, economic development, and food security in the region.

One of the key milestones of the celebration will be the launch of the Smart Chicken Guide by the Latin American Chicken Institute (ILP), a part of the Latin American Poultry Association (ALA). This digital publication provides consumers with practical, reliable, and technically sound data about this protein.

Celebrated yearly on the first Friday of July, Latin American Chicken Day brings together farmers, technicians, veterinarians, agribusiness workers, distributors, traders, sector agencies, and consumers around an activity that connects farming, industry, and the dinner tables of millions of families.

For 2026, the campaign slogan is «Chicken unites us.» It acknowledges the presence of this protein in everyday eating, culinary traditions, and moments shared by Latin American families, while also valuing the people and companies that make its production and supply possible.

Smart Chicken Guide

The Smart Chicken Guide features content designed to improve consumers’ knowledge and support more informed nutrition decisions.

The publication provides information on the nutritional properties of poultry, facts and myths, choosing and buying chicken, preservation, handling, safe preparation, recipes, and other content related to the product and the industry.

The publication aims to give reliable guidance on a nutritious, versatile protein present in Latin America’s different food cultures.

It also highlights the region’s culinary diversity, with dishes designed for everyday meals as well as moments of togetherness and celebration with family and friends.

A strategic chain for Latin America

Data from the 2026 Poultry Report, prepared by the ILP, show the scale of the sector.

In 2025, Latin America and the Caribbean produced 31.5 million tons of poultry, equivalent to 57.6% of all production in the Americas and 29.4% of total global output.

That means that, for every ten kilograms of poultry produced worldwide, about three come from Latin America and the Caribbean.

From 2010 to 2025, regional production grew by 40.4%, far exceeding the rates recorded in the Americas as a whole and the global market.

Regional consumption reached 27.4 million tons in 2025, with an estimated average of 41 kilos per person.

In Chile, poultry production hit 748,602 tons in 2025, an 8.4% year-on-year increase. Domestic consumption reached 715,781 tons, equivalent to 36.1 kilos per inhabitant, while exports totaled 189,829 tons, a 12.9% increase compared to 2024.

The numbers reflect poultry’s prevalence in the daily diet of millions of people and the importance of local production to sustain supply and contribute to the region’s food security.

«Chicken unites us» campaign

Throughout the celebration, the ILP, ALA, and poultry associations from different countries shared content showing the breadth and relevance of the production chain.

The campaign highlights the work done on farms, the technical and veterinary support, the industry’s actions, and distribution for the product to reach consumers.

It also includes data on nutrition, informed consumption, preservation, safe preparation, and culinary diversity, with the participation of nutritionists and specialists from different Latin American countries.

The materials were developed for regional distribution and can be adapted by ALA members to foster common messaging about the social, economic, and nutritional value of the sector.

A celebration across the entire chain

Latin American Chicken Day reaffirms the importance of an activity that stimulates local economies, creates jobs, incorporates technology, promotes quality, and guarantees a stable food supply.

From farmers to the industry, and from the technical teams to distribution, each link is part of a common effort to deliver quality protein to millions of homes.

Today, we celebrate those who make every meal possible. Chicken unites us.
