Chile, alongside Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, the United States, the European Union, and other members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) -including eight Latin American countries, agreed to maintain the international flow of food and agricultural products.
The group committed to ensuring that supply chains keep functioning and for emergency measures to be targeted, proportionate, transparent, and temporary. Members also agreed to discuss how to improve the WTO’s preparedness against regional and international pandemics.
The members who signed the declaration represent 63% of the world’s agricultural and agri-food exports, and 55% of imports. They reaffirm their commitment to not impose restrictions on the exports of these products, and to exercise containment to set up local food storage capabilities.
The signatory members are Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Malawi, Mexico, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Qatar, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine, the European Union, and Uruguay.
