On July 29, ChileCarne representative met with the Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam, Nasly Bernal Prado, to discuss new opportunities for Chilean pork and poultry exports to the Asian country. The meeting was an opportunity review of the health authorization process, analyze the destination’s potential, and coordinate actions to position Chilean products.
ChileCarne was represented by its President, Juan Carlos Domínguez; Marketing and Communications Manager, Pía Barros; and Business Manager, Rodrigo Castañón. From the Embassy, Ambassador Bernal was joined by the Chilean Consul, Andrés Meza, and the Agricultural Attaché, Rosaura Campusano. The parties also exchanged views on the current state of the Vietnamese market and coordinated actions to further strengthen opportunities for the sector.
ChileCarne also detailed its efforts as an association, the main production and export figures of Chile’s pork and poultry industry, and highlighted Vietnam’s potential as an export destination.
The team also highlighted the industry’s strengths, including its renowned sanitary conditions, high biosecurity standards, production traceability, and the sector’s robust international position. The attributes drive the competitiveness of Chilean meats in international markets.
Another key topic was the progress made toward health authorization in Vietnam, which has been underway for over a decade and is a critical step for Chilean pork and poultry to be able to enter that market. This is particularly relevant given that Chile and Vietnam have a Trade Agreement in force since 2014, which includes zero tariffs for pork and poultry exports. The meeting also covered the work carried out with the relevant authorities, as well as the upcoming challenges to continue advancing this process.
The meeting was also an opportunity to review promotional activities for Chilean pork in Vietnam, which began in 2025 with an event for potential clients and local importers. ChileCarne underscored the importance of continue strengthening the work with the Chilean Embassy and the Agricultural Attaché to consolidate the presence of Chilean meat in a high-potential market, where pork is the main source of animal protein and poultry is experiencing sustained growth. In August, Juan Carlos Domínguez will accompany Undersecretary of Agriculture Francesco Venezian on an official tour of Asia, including Vietnam. The visit will provide an opportunity to keep strengthening the efforts to achieve health authorization and position Chilean meat in the Vietnamese market.
These coordinated efforts reflect ChileCarne’s commitment to opening new markets, strengthening the international position of Chile’s pork and poultry, and creating more opportunities for the export sector, in close collaboration with Chile’s global network.
