SUBREI, ProChile, and InvestChile host trade mission from the UAE

On July 3rd, the Undersecretariat for International Economic Affairs (SUBREI), ProChile, and InvestChile led the «Chile-UAE Business & Investment Roundtable,» which brought together a trade mission from the United Arab Emirates—including 22 senior executives and investors from strategic sectors—and representatives from Chile’s public and private sectors. The Emirati delegation, headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, aimed to strengthen bilateral economic ties and identifying new opportunities for collaboration between the two markets.

The mission included representatives from sectors such as infrastructure, ports, energy, technology, banking, investment, and agribusiness, who held meetings with Chilean business associations to explore opportunities for collaboration, investment, and project development. The meeting also highlighted Chile’s competitive advantages as a platform for international business development, thanks to its institutional stability, its extensive network of trade agreements, and the potential for bilateral cooperation in several sectors.

The visit is especially significant given the UAE’s growing interest in strengthening trade with Chile and consolidating itself as a strategic platform for food imports in the Middle East and Africa. Last year’s approval of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between both countries opened new opportunities for Chile’s food sector, facilitating access to a market that depends heavily on food imports and values products with high-quality standards.

Chilean participants included the National Agricultural Society (SNA), the Agri-Food Export Council, the National Mining Society (SONAMI), the Association of Mining Industrial Vendors (APRIMIN), the Information Technology Association (ACTI), the Renewable Energy Association (ACERA), FinteChile, ChileTech, and the General Directorate of Concessions of the Ministry of Public Works. Juan Carlos Domínguez, President of ChileCarne, represented the food sector. During the meeting, the participants outlined concrete opportunities for collaboration, investment, and joint project development. As part of his official agenda, Minister Al Zeyoudi also met with SOFOFA and various ministries, reflecting the growing interest of the UAE in deepening its presence in Latin America and expanding its economic ties with Chile.

According to figures from SUBREI, trade between Chile and the UAE reached US$320 million in 2025, with an average growth of 2.3% per year, confirming the potential of this relationship to continue boosting Chilean agri-food exports and creating new opportunities for the meat sector.
