To strengthen disease prevention and promote safer production, ChileCarne and the Institute for Agricultural Development (INDAP) conducted two training sessions for peasant family farmers (AFC), advisors, and professionals from the O’Higgins Region.
The first was held on July 22 in La Estrella with about 35 attendees. On July 29, a second training session was held in Litueche, bringing together around 50 people. In both sessions, participants were taught theory and practice to strengthen health management at their farms, with special emphasis on biosecurity measures to prevent Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
The sessions covered actions to prevent the entry and spread of the virus, as well as to identify potential cases and properly implement biosecurity protocols on farms. The key role played by small-sized producers in protecting Chile’s national biosecurity by adopting best management and prevention practices was also highlighted.
These training sessions, held under the collaboration agreement between INDAP and ChileCarne, are designed to strengthen the capacities of small-sized poultry farmers by delivering technical tools and knowledge that contribute to safer, more sustainable production, and prepare them to face health challenges.
Sessions like these reaffirm ChileCarne’s commitment to animal health, the sustainable development of Chile’s poultry industry, and collaboration with public institutions and farmers. This promotes a safer and more prepared poultry industry that can face health challenges and help safeguard Chile’s animal and plant health, which is a key asset for the entire country.
