Workshop in Arica promotes biosecurity and the prevention of avian influenza

In order to strengthen prevention efforts against Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and promote good biosecurity practices in poultry production, ChileCarne helped organize a training session on June 3 for small-scale producers in the Family Farming Sector (AFC), as well as INDAP advisors and professionals from the Arica y Parinacota Region. The workshop served to reinforce key preventive measures aimed at reducing health risks and improving the capacity to respond to potential outbreaks, thereby helping to protect the nation’s poultry production.
Organized in collaboration between INDAP and ChileCarne, the activity brought together 26 participants for a session aimed at strengthening their knowledge of poultry health, biosecurity, and poultry management.
Carolina Larraín, head of Poultry Health, attended on behalf of ChileCarne and noted that “prevention and biosecurity are the first line of defense against diseases such as avian influenza. Sharing this knowledge with producers and technical staff is essential to strengthening our response capacity and protecting Chile’s disease-free status.”
This activity is part of the training program implemented by ChileCarne and INDAP in various regions of the country. The program aims to support small-scale poultry producers by providing them with tools and knowledge designed to promote biosecurity and disease prevention at farms.
Through initiatives such as these, ChileCarne reaffirms its commitment to strengthening animal health, promoting the sustainable development of the national poultry industry, and fostering public-private partnerships as a cornerstone for safeguarding the country’s animal health assets.
