The association represented Chile at the important Ibero-American pork producers’ conference in the Cauca Valley in Colombia.
The 19th Porkaméricas International Conference 2018 was held from July 16 to 19. This conference has taken place since 2008 and its objective is to discuss the current state of pork production in the world, industry challenges, and the latest trends.
More than 60 companies from the industry attended the event, and there was a series of academic presentations by international speakers who are experts in the areas of biosecurity, sustainable production, and productivity.
Representing the Chilean Meat Exporters’ Association, our Foreign Trade Manager, Rodrigo Castañón, was in charge of sharing Chile’s experience at the event. “For us it is very important to always be connected with pork producers around the world, especially in Latin America. Sharing knowledge about traceability, the use of medications, and pork sustainability with great specialists from Germany, Japan, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and Chile, is undoubtedly an opportunity to enrich the work that we do in these areas, which incidentally is tremendously valued by our peers.”
One of the most repeated phrases was “pork is harmless, safe, and nutritious” and those present made a commitment to raise awareness about its benefits.
