The Chilean Meet Exporters’ Association held a meeting with Universidad Católica’s Dean of Agricultural Science and Natural Systems, María Angélica Fellenberg, to identify opportunities for synergy. Juan Carlos Domínguez, President of ChileCarne, talked about the association’s work and the situation of the Chilean white meat sector, while Dean Fellenberg covered the priorities and work of the School of Agricultural Science and Natural Systems.
ChileCarne explained some of the challenges faced by the industry, like the limitations caused by the lack of clear policies on land use planning and the need to create a narrative about agriculture that highlights its qualities and dispels misconceptions. The School is celebrating its 120 anniversary and promoting community outreach, trying to connect people with agriculture, showcasing the positives of the profession, inviting young people to join the industry, and promoting a direct connection between food and agriculture.
Following the fruitful meeting, both parties expect to develop joint projects that benefit Chile’s agricultural and meat sector.
