As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen conditions for market access and agri-food trade between Chile and foreign countries, an official delegation traveled to Guatemala City to discuss health and business relations. Representing the sector, ChileCarne sent Francisco Lorenzo, head of Foreign Trade and Industrial Affairs, to take part in the meetings held in the Central American country.
On November 24, the two countries held a meeting of the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (MSF), bringing representatives from the Guatemalan Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, and Health together with the Chilean Embassy, the Undersecretariat for International Economic Affairs, and the Agricultural and Livestock Service. It was an opportunity to discuss central issues for advancing the negotiations regarding health authorization for pork, poultry, and beef; agricultural and hydrobiological products from Chile to Guatemala; and livestock and agricultural products from Guatemala to Chile.
Another item on the agenda was the Chile-Central America and Caribbean Business Meeting, in which the Chilean Embassy and ProChile met with Invest Guatemala and companies and trade associations from the region. ChileCarne shared the perspective of Chile’s pork and chicken export sector at the meeting, highlighting opportunities for collaboration, investment, and strengthening bilateral trade.
ChileCarne’s involvement in this official visit reinforced institutional and business ties and advanced strategic objectives for the future development of the Chilean meat industry in the region.
