Once again, Agrosuper’s wings were present in U.S. homes for the NFL grand finale that was played on February 11. This cut is a favorite among football fans.
Are you a Super Bowl fan? Then, you’ve probably heard that chicken wings have become the food of choice for the most popular sporting event in the United States. Wings are so popular that, according to estimates from the U. S. National Chicken Council, 1.45 billion were eaten during the championship last year.
But many don’t know that Chilean chicken is actually one of the stars. Every February it is part of the Super Bowl thanks to Agrosuper’s wings, which reach U.S. homes to add even more flavor to the NFL final, which this year saw the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers.
The U.S. ambassador to Chile, Bernadette Meehan, posted on X that “every year, Chilean chicken wings arrive for the Super Bowl.”
And Agrosuper can confirm that claim. The company’s International Sales Manager, Nicolás Rosenfeld, explained that chicken wings sales go up in February, precisely because they are the fans’ food of choice to enjoy with family and friends while watching the game. “It’s an affordable, tasty, and easy-to-make product that has not just become an icon for this event, but is also a protagonist on the tables of U.S. families,” he stated.
It should be noted that overall chicken consumption in the United States has been growing steadily. According to data from ChileCarne, 13,879 tons of chicken were consumed in 2013, while ten years later, in 2023, that figure reached 17,866 tons. This year, consumption is expected to exceed 18 billion USD.
“There is a trend of growing chicken consumption in the United States. Chile is a world-class chicken producer and we are seeing sales go up in the U.S. market. We are proud to see companies like Agrosuper winning over a variety of audiences, especially football fans,” said Juan Carlos Domínguez, President of ChileCarne.
