As part of the strategy to position Chilean pork in the Philippines, the Chilean Agricultural Attaché to ASEAN and ChileCarne organized a virtual meeting with Chilean pork exporters on September 2.
AASA, Agrosuper, Coexca, and Maxagro met with TAO Corporation, a Philippine gourmet and health food company and distributor for large supermarket and restaurant chains. The meeting was also attended by Claudio Rojas, Chilean Ambassador to the Philippines, Marco Navarro, Chilean Consul in Manila, and Fernando Balart, Chilean Agricultural Attaché to ASEAN.
The meeting began with a welcome from the officials. Ambassador Navarro highlighted Chile’s interest in increasing commercial presence in the Philippines, while Julio Sy, President of TAO Corporation, talked about the company and its needs. In turn, Rodrigo Castañón, ChileCarne Business Manager, introduced the ChilePork brand, production and export figures of the Chilean pork industry, and how Chile has positioned itself as a relevant pork exporter in Asia —its primary market— particularly in Japan, South Korea, and China.
The meeting continued with a business roundtable between TAO Corporation and Chilean exporting companies, with the aim of completing deals and agreements.
