The Chilean agency celebrated five decades of promoting foreign trade, highlighting the contribution of trade associations such as ChileCarne in positioning Chilean pork in international markets.
On November 13, ProChile celebrated its 50th anniversary, a milestone celebrated with an event that brought together representatives from the public and private sector. The ceremony, held in Santiago, commemorated the history of this agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has worked to internationalize the Chilean economy since its founding in 1974, supporting companies from various sectors to conquer global markets.
Ignacio Fernández, General Director of ProChile, remarked: “Fifty years is not just a number; it is five decades full of stories, challenges, and transformations that have cemented our country’s path towards internationalization.”
Among the trade associations present, ChileCarne represented the pork and poultry exporting sector, which has been key for Chile’s foreign trade. With ChilePork as its flagship, ProChile has supported the pork exporting sector for almost ten years to strengthen its position in the world -mainly in Asia- by creating, designing, and implementing the brand with remarkable international marketing campaigns.
Juan Carlos Domínguez, President of ChileCarne, highlighted the impact of the collaboration with ProChile to position the industry: “ProChile has been a key player in positioning Chilean food products in foreign markets, particularly Asia in the case of pork.”
ChileCarne shared a stand with other trade associations, where attendees could learn more about exported products. The exhibit included giveaways and pork tastings, showcasing the quality that has driven the sector’s position in demanding markets such as Asia.
Looking forward
ProChile, with its network of commercial offices in 50 countries, has been instrumental in the internationalization of strategic sectors, from food and beverage to technology and the creative industry. The meat sector has played a leading role, especially in Asia, where Chilean pork is renowned for its quality, safety, and traceability.
“Our partnership with ProChile has been decisive for the meat exporting industry. Its support has not only helped us open strategic markets but also strengthen Chile’s image as a reliable supplier of quality foods. These joint efforts are a clear example of how public-private collaboration can transform a sector and position it globally,” Domínguez concluded.
ProChile’s anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate its history, reaffirm its commitment to growing the country’s foreign trade, and highlight the collaboration with trade associations such as ChileCarne, a partnership that will continue to be key to face the challenges of a constantly evolving global market and solidify Chile’s leadership in strategic sectors.
